Art Sorceress

Here, when the danger to his will is greatest, art approaches as a saving sorceress, expert at healing. She alone knows how to turn these nauseous thoughts about the horror or absurdity of existence into notions with which one can live: these are the sublime as the artistic taming of the horrible, and the comic as the artistic discharge of the nausea of absurdity. – Nietzsche

The Embodied Arts

I name the many forms of transformative art I engage in as the Embodied Arts.  My training and education in the professional field is classified as expressive art with its basis in depth psychology.  Yet because of the fundamental level the body plays in the modalities I work with, I have chosen to name these… The Embodied Arts: authentic movement, process painting, stream of consciousness writing, performance ritual art.

All of these forms access the deepest levels of our untapped intelligence, our Genius, giving it the wordless languages which are its domain… movement, image, sound, symbols… to communicate with.

The paintings and performance art you see in this gallery are all improvisational in nature.  Nothing is known beforehand.  The journey is revelatory.  The communion one enters into is with a living force, YOUR living center of intelligence which is alive, moving, expressing, unfolding, informing, healing and guiding.  Given the opportunity, it weaves together the disparate parts of our psyche, healing and transforming as it moves.

The encounter is with the force of Love that is at the core of our beings with its natural impulse towards healing and wholeness.  Because the entry point is most often through our wounds, our pain, what we are suffering with, we shun this place and therefore are separated from the very source that can heal us.

I offer these works as a glimpse into my own Genius, the dynamic unfolding of my intelligence.  Yours is as uniquely your own as mine is mine.  And… each human being has one.  It is the wonder of being human.

I will be highlighting other depth artists in my gallery as well as my clients who would like to share their work with the World.

There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. … No artist is pleased.
[There is] no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others. – Martha Graham

Out of the Ashes and Unto Myself

This was a performance piece. It is about the honoring of my ancestors… my fathers, my mothers, and the shedding of the old cloth of who they were and the stories they lived.  It is about feeling my nakedness when all is stripped from me.  It is about feeling myself, unto myself, my soft animal nature… and coming in touch with the new material of who I am NOW unfolding unto myself.

Oceanic womb

The Oceanic womb is a painting that came out while I was working with my relationship to my primal self and its beginnings.  I read a piece which Darwin… all life came from….
